Mankato, Minnesota - Vicki Lynn (Knakmuhs) Schwantes, age 69, passed away on October 1, 2025 in Mankato, Minnesota.

Born August 8, 1956 in Redwood Falls, MN to Florence (Hamilton) Knakmuhs & John Knakmuhs, Vicki was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. Minnesota was home to Vicki her entire life, as a child living in Walnut Grove, graduating from Springfield High School and then living in Mankato until her death.

Always cheerful & upbeat, Vicki cared about and was interested in all things family. She enjoyed the outdoors, playing games, her knick-knack collection was proof of her love of cats and angels, blue was her color of choice and she was particularly fond of taco pizza.

Vicki is preceded in death by daughter Denise; her mother & father; maternal grandparents Harold & Alice Hamilton; brother Harold Knakmuhs; sister Judy Wendland; aunt and uncle Evelyn (Hamilton) & Glenn Siekmann.

Vicki is survived by brother Charles (Janet) Knakmuhs; sister Brenda (Robert) Weinrebe; aunt & uncle Betty (Hamilton) & Merle Domine. Vicki is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation & funeral services for Vicki Schwantes will be held at Hilltop Methodist Church in Mankato at 11:30 am, Thursday, October 16, 2025. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 12:00 noon, with Chaplain Dan Dempster, St. Croix Hospice officiating.

The spreading of Vicki's ashes across the picturesque southern Minnesota landscape that Vicki called home her entire life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Vicki's name to St. Croix Hospice Support Foundation or the Salvation Army of Mankato.
