500 West Jackson, St. Peter, MN 56082 - Valeria "Val" Youngblom passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 5:00 a.m.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Val was born at home near Winthrop, Minnesota, to Henry and Marie (Bubolz) Thenemann. She was the youngest of nine children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Val attended and graduated from Winthrop Public School. She earned her degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato and taught elementary school in Renville and Lafayette, as well as at John Ireland Elementary and South Elementary in St. Peter, Minnesota.
On August 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Carl Youngblom. They were blessed with four sons. Val and Carl loved to travel and shared many wonderful adventures with their dear friends, Hank and Char Ruble. Val also cherished her family and friends and enjoyed theater, reading, handwork, puzzles, games, cards, and entertaining.
Throughout the years, Val was active in many church activities, a serving group, several community theater productions, the library, the St. Peter Art Center, and the History Center. After moving to Realife, she continued to be actively involved in the community there.
Val was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl; her infant son, Jeffrey John; her parents; her eight siblings; and all of her brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her sons: Mark and his wife, Sherry, of St. Peter, Minnesota, and their sons, Nathan of Janesville, Minnesota, and Adam and his wife, Kelly, of St. Peter, along with their three sons, Colin, Kyle, and Cameron; Erik and his wife, Patsy, of Rushmore, Minnesota; and Scott and his wife, Karen, of Saline, Michigan, and their children, Lucas and his wife, Jessica, of Nashville, Tennessee, and their son, Ethan; and Abby and her husband, Ryan Brenner, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and their son, Cody.
Val is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Val generously donated her body to the Mayo Clinic
Body Donation Program in Rochester, Minnesota.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association, or the donor's charity of choice.
