Tito, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in Mankato, Minnesota.

Services for Tito will be 10:00am Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Northview Mortuary, North Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. To leave a condolence for the family or view the livestream, visit www.mankatomortuary.com.

Tito was born on February 6, 1938 in Mexico to Chero Ortega and Herlinda Salis. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Melvin, September 27, 1969 at Saints Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato, Minnesota. Tito worked at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia for many years before moving to Mankato, where he worked for Dotson, and later Minnesota State from which he retired in 2003. Tito liked to watch the Minnesota Twins and Vikings on the television, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tito is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; children, Alfredo "Fred", and Elizabeth Irene. Sisters: Candelando "Candy", Concha Norma, and Margitta; In-laws: MaDonna Embree, Richard (Linda) Melvin, Lois Palmquist, Paty Melvin, and Raynell Melvin.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Dale Melvin, Michael Melvin, and Max Embree; and other relatives and friends.

The Melvin and Ortega family would like to thank everyone at Vista Prairie, Birchwood Cottages, and the Mapleton Community Home for taking such good care of Tito while he was there. It was very much appreciated. God Bless you call.
