Shakopee, MN - Sister Mary Louise McKenna, SSND, 94, died October 14, 2025, at Benedictine Living Community - St. Gertrude's, Shakopee, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, at Windermere Chapel, 1705 Windermere Way, Shakopee, with Visitation at 10:00; Sharing of Memories at 10:30; and a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00. Sister Mary Louise was born May 10, 1931, in Shakopee. She attended Good Counsel Academy in Mankato and graduated in 1948. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato that same year and professed First Vows in 1951. Prior to 1969, she was known as Sister Mary Carola, and taught intermediate and upper grades at SS. Peter & Paul, Mankato (1951-53 and 1960-66) and served as principal at St. Casimir, Wells from 1966 through 1969. She returned to her baptismal name of Mary Louise in 1969. From 1972 through 1981 she was the principal of Holy Rosary School, North Mankato. In 2019, after 25 years of service in parish religious education programs and 13 years directing a non-profit, she retired to Good Counsel and then moved to Shakopee in 2022 with other School Sisters of Notre Dame.

Sister Mary Louise is survived by her sisters in community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and SSND Associates, and her brother David (Sandy). She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Loretta (Weber) McKenna, her sister Carol McDonald and brothers Harold and Richard.
