Norman James Carlberg passed away on February 21, 2025 in Mankato, MN. Norm was born in Story City, IA on April 13, 1955 to
A. Edwin & Anna Carlberg. Growing up, Norm spent time with his family working on many home projects. He then became very skilled and talented in building and fixing things around the home. He was proud to build a go-kart one summer and with his siblings a skating rink and sledding hill that they enjoyed for many hours each winter. Norm was confirmed in 1969 at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo, WI. He had a strong faith in the Lord. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1973. Norm attended Mankato Technical College in 1973 and graduated with a degree in Drafting from the Mankato Vocational School. The job that became his lifelong career started on 9/3/1985 at the Oaklawn Health Care Center (now Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center) in Mankato, MN. He was the Maintenance Director working with heating, air conditioning (HVAC) and many multiple tasks around the facility. Not only did Norm dedicate himself to the staff, residents, and families of Oaklawn Rehabilitation center, he was also a friend, mentor, and resource for many other buildings within the Monarch organization. In 2020 he created a phone line just for window visits during covid! He was brilliant with computers and loved programming. Using self-taught programing skills Norm wrote the FineLine IDE software program. It is software Microchip programmers worldwide can download for free from Norm's web site. It is written to make editing easier for programming with Proton and PicBasicPro compilers. This has had thousands of free downloads, with many good reviews and special requests. He enjoyed the outdoors very much including fishing, boating, miniature golf and camping. Norm was an avid Vikings fan. He would spend weekends bike riding on the beautiful Mankato Trail system. Norm had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family. He was very caring for his mom in her final years. Norm's coworkers at Oaklawn were like his second family and meant the world to him. The family would like to thank his Oaklawn coworkers for their almost 40 years of friendship and many good memories. Norm is survived by his siblings Gary, Ron, Judy and Lori. Norm was preceded in death by his parents A. Edwin Carlberg and Anna Carlberg. Blessed be the memory of Norman Carlberg. Norm's funeral will be held at Woodland Hills Funeral Home at 12:00 noon on Friday , February 28th. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Norm's final resting place will be at Woodland Hills Cemetery in Mankato,MN.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
