Columbia Heights - Nathan "Nate" Douglas Maxey of Columbia Heights, MN passed away oon March 3, 2026. He was 44 years old.

Nate was born on May 11, 1981 in Hutchinson, MN to Rolle and Jodi (Larson) Maxey. The family later moved to the Mankato area where he attended the Rapidan Elementary school, the Garden City Middle School and graduated from the Lake Crystal High School in 1999. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and was employed at Consulting Engineers Group (CEG) in Lakeville, MN where he was the head of the Electrical Substation Division.

Nate was a fan of the Gopher Hockey Team and the Cubs in Chicago and attended games often. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a voracious reader, especially about history. He was a fan of playing Trivia and enjoyed spending time with his friends.

He was a world traveler having visited all of the British Isles, Amsterdam, France, Germany, Italy and Portugal. He was single and had no children of his own, but loved and enjoyed spending time with his young niece and nephew.

Nathan is survived by his parents; Rolle and Jodi, his sister Megan Johnson and her husband Shawn, his nephew Wes, his niece Nell and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nate was a generous, caring and friendly young man who made friends wherever he went. He will be missed very much by all who knew him. The family requests that any gifts be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
