Nancy Braun Obituary

Saint Peter, MN - Nancy Carol Braun, age 85, of Saint Peter, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 as the result of a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 4, 1940, the first and only daughter, to Oscar and Muriel (Christian) Braun in rural Le Center, MN.

After graduating from Saint Peter High School in 1958, she worked for several years and then went on to attend Mankato State University where she earned a Bachelor Science Degree in Nursing in 1973. She worked at the Saint Peter Regional Treatment Center including Johnson Hall Chemical Dependency Unit and Minnesota Security Hospital for 25 years. After retiring from the State of Minnesota, she went on to become an owner/operator of Sure Game Wilderness Resort in Northern Minnesota for seven years. Nancy was an active volunteer with her church and Meals on Wheels.

Nancy was an avid sports enthusiast and a frequent attendee of her nieces and nephews (and even great nieces and nephews!) sporting events. Nancy was a fan of Minnesota professional sports including, but not limited to, the Timberwolves, Vikings, and Twins. She even learned how to stream the Twins games this year! Quite a feat for an 85 year old who didn't own a computer!

Nancy is survived by her brother Allen and his wife Becky, sister in law Marge Braun, former sister in law Carol Myrha, her lifelong friend Addie Johnson, and many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Donald (Emie), Russell (Jo), Clinton, Gordy (Betty), and Rich (Diane).

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saint Peter, MN at 11 am. Visitation will occur at the church starting at 9:30 am prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will take place at Woodland Hills Cemetery in Mankato following the luncheon for those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church (St Peter), the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association. Special thanks to Dr. Singh and Nurse Brian with Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato Oncology, Mayo Clinic Health System Hospitals in Mankato and New Prague, Benedictine Living Community, and St Croix Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Nancy.
