Mark Richard Kump, age 68, of Mankato, died on September 7, 2018 at home of complications following surgery.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Northview.

Mark was born on May 5, 1950 in Northfield to Richard and Donna (Frana) Kump. He graduated from Northfield High School. On August 2, 1974, Mark was united in marriage to Rita Steinberg. Mark earned bachelor's degrees in history, business, and computer science from Mankato State University. Mark was an air traffic controller in his earlier years and had his pilot's license. During his lifetime, Mark worked at Minnesota State University, Mankato for over 20 years, and retired from working in the library at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Mark enjoyed his aquarium fish, reading, flying, sailing, golf, and spending time with family.

Mark is survived by his wife, Rita of Mankato; daughter, Tracy Kump of St. Peter; son, Travis (Samantha) Kump of New Ulm; grandchildren, Ariana, Mariah, and Layla of New Ulm; mother, Donna Kump of Northfield; brother, Robert (Jolene) Kump; sisters, Karen (Noel) Bublitz and Jane (Kevin) Johnson; mother-in-law, Doris Steinberg; brothers-in-law, Steve (Sue) Steinberg and Jim (Lisa) Steinberg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Kump; brother, David Kump; father-in-law, William Steinberg; and grandparents.
