Mankato, MN - Marie JoAnn Groebner, 79, Mankato, died Friday October 31, 2025 at Pathstone Living in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Tuesday November 11, 2025 at Ss. Peter & Pauls' Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held form 4- 7 pm Monday November 10 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church.

Marie was born on the family farm in Madison Lake on December 22, 1945 to Francis and Lorraine (Fasnacht) Schraml. She graduated from Loyola High School Class of 1963. Marie was united in marriage to Jerome Groebner on July 3, 1965 at All Saint's Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Together, they raised four children and her family was her greatest joy. She worked as a mother, nursing assistant, writer, editor and publisher of the Lake Region Times, after-school care at All Saints and Loyola, and as a singer and musician. In her free time, Marie enjoyed word puzzles and games, arts and crafts, travel, was a life - long learner and avid reader and a master embroiderer. On a European trip with her mother and sister, Marie had the great opportunity to meet and shake hands with the Pope.

Starting at a young age and continuing throughout her life, Marie was very involved in music. She sang in her high school choir, Ss. Peter and Paul's choir, and along with her husband, started the All Saints Choir. She and her sister sang at countless weddings and church celebrations. In her later years, she sang with the Singing Hills Chorus with her husband and many friends.

She is survived by husband, Jerome "Jerry"; sons, Robert (Deb), Russell, and Richard (Debbie); daughter, Robin (Jay); grandchildren, Jimmy (Jen), Jenny (Clay), Courtney (Chad), Ben, Mylei (Darren) and Emma (Joel); great grandchildren, Brayden, Zoey, Waylon, and Teddy; and other relatives, Dennis and Emily and their son Ben.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gayle (Sandy) and Gary (Judy); Sister Mary Beth (Jane), mother in-law, Leora; brother in-law(s) Willard (Butch) and Daniel, sister in law, Cathy; and son in-law, Michael.
