North Mankato, MN - Lowell E (Skip) Hovren passed away on April 28, 2025 at home in Mankato. Born in Madison, South Dakota in October 1936 to parents Morris and Alice. Skip spent his formative years in Stewartville, MN. After graduating from Rochester Junior College he began his long career in insurance, forming his own agency, Security Insurance Marketing, in 1977. He married his wife of 63 years, Roberta (Bobbi), in Rochester in 1961. The family settled in Mankato in 1969 and raised children Karen (Eric) Peterson and Todd Hovren. He enjoyed his family, friends, being a grandpa, fishing, hunting and his 30 years at the Mankato Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchild, Zach Peterson, and extended family. The family will hold a private celebration of life.
