Jon Roy Sydness
The Sydness family was blessed with the arrival of Jon Roy on March 1, 1964 and saddened when Jon peacefully left us on August 22, 2019. Jon was proceeded in death by his mother, Mildred Goede Sydness, as well as his grandparents, two brothers-in-law, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his father, LeRoy Sydness and sisters, Alice, Janet, Kari, and Becky, their families, as well as numerous extended family members.

Jon was a resident of Mankato, MN and worked at MRCI since 1986. Jon was a friendly asset to the River Hills Mall Team, keeping the tables in the food court clean and ready for customers. Jon enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, LEEP social activities, Wii bowling, cheering on his favorite Minnesota sports teams and loved playing Yahtzee, Kings in the Corner, or UNO.

Jon's smile and pleasant personality made his journey through life one of acceptance and inspiration. Interactions with Jon encouraged changes in the perception of disabled people, inspired career choices to special education or healthcare, and motivated volunteerism to help the disabled.

Jon defeated myths of limitations and demonstrated unconditional love without hesitation. Jon instinctively gave a hug to those in need. He was a joy to know and love.

Memorial services will be held at 10am Monday September 9, 2019 at Hilltop Methodist Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2pm Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Lakefield Cemetery in Lakefield. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is assisting with arrangements.

He will be missed by so many people - he was always smiling and had something nice to say when I would see him at work. May your memories provide you with some comfort during this difficult time.
