Jean M. Bauer, age 97, of Mankato, died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026

Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m., April 21, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the church. Private Family Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jean was born January 22, 1929, to Clem and Bertha (Brunner) Simonett in Mankato. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1946. Jean married George J. Bauer on October 25, 1952.

Jean was employed by Carney Insulation for many years in the office. She was custodian at the American Legion Post #11 on Walnut Street and also ran the gambling booth. Jean was the greeter at Sam's Club for the last 10 years.

Jean was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipe books, and bowling.

Jean is survived by her three children, Marlene (Byron) Houg, Thomas J. (Carla) Bauer) and Rosanne Hanson (Joe Lyons); twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Herzog; nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael J. Bauer, grandson, Joseph Bauer; brother, Tom Simonett; grandson-in-law, Michael McMahon.
