Geraldine Schweim
GERALDINE ANN SCHWEIM, of Janesville, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Whispering Creek in Janesville at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 30 days.

Born at her lifetime family home in Janesville Township, Geraldine was born November 11, 1932, the daughter of John and Erna (Jacobshagen) Schweim. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She also attended Trinity Lutheran School as a child. She grew up on the family farm and took over its operation when her father's health declined. Following were 52 years of milking cows and nurturing the land entrusted to her care. Being outside in fresh air and working with her hands brought contentment to her life. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, she gained the respect of many who knew her.

Geraldine is survived by her sister, Ruth Kolander; her sister-in-law, Ellen Schwiem; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Delores; and two brothers, David and Harold.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Paul Muther and Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Smith's Mill Cemetery. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Janesville is handling the arrangements. dennisfuneralhomes.com

I am Gerry's great niece, the granddaughter of Harold. I had not seen or spoken to her in God only knows how long.. after David and Erna passed, the Schweim family fell apart. I have very fond memories of her. today at her funeral I got to reunite with Ruth. She was so happy I was there and to see me. I also got to catch up with Keith and Korey. I was so emotional and almost cried during the service, but I couldn't let myself be sad. I was there to celebrate the amazing life she led. She was born on the farm and lived her entire life there. It was all she knew, and she was a strong, hardworking woman just like GG. I would love to someday be half the hard working woman she was. Even though we... lost touch, I know she loved me and missed me. Our middle name means Grace, and she graced me with the presence of her beautiful spirit as I sat in the church next to my uncle Paul and my cousin Scott. Her physical body may be gone, but she will always be with those that loved her. Heaven gained a beautiful soulRead more

I have always told my daughters that Gerry was a Renaissance woman--She was a lady in the day of the "housewife" who took on a man's traditional role and did it with strength and great skill. I never heard her say that she didn't enjoy what she did. She was always a good friend to Iva, her cousin. When we lived at Waterville, we visited her farm many times.

We are so sorry to learn of Gerries' passing and are very sorry we won't be able to attend her funeral. Geraldine was a long time friend of the family and she will be missed.

Gerry is my first cousin once removed and our families kept in touch. It was a pleasure see her joy in farming. Her generosity, honesty, and hard work was evident to all. She was very dear to us.
God's comfort and peace to all who knew her.
