Gary W. Rambow Obituary
Watertown, SD - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Wilbur Rambow, of Mankato, MN and Watertown, SD, who left us on April 8, 2026. He was surrounded by love in his final days, and his absence is felt deeply by all who knew him.
Gary was born on October 27, 1946, in Sleepy Eye, MN. He spent his life rooted in the communities of Mankato, MN and Watertown, SD. From early on he carried a quiet strength and grounded warmth that stayed with him throughout his life.
Gary proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, spending most of his service in Germany. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Beverly Elaine Johnson, in Comfrey, MN. This year they had just celebrated 58 years of marriage, a testament to their deep devotion and the life they built together.
He built a long and meaningful career in electrical engineering, also serving as a personnel manager, roles that suited both his technical skill and his steady, people centered approach. Whether he was working through a complex system or guiding others with patience and clarity, Gary approached every challenge with care and precision.
Those who knew him will remember his hard working nature, the gentle humor he shared so easily, and the joy he found in the simple, steady rhythms of life. Gary loved spending time on his hobby farm, raising hogs and cutting firewood—work that brought him peace, purpose, and a deep connection to the land.
Family was at the center of Gary's world. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Elaine (Johnson) Rambow; his two sons, Lance and Corey; his daughters in law, Amy (Weyh) and Kelly (Coughlan); his grandchildren, Dylan Rambow (Desi), Alex Rambow, and Julian Rambow; his brother, Tim (Deb); his sisters, Janice Sandhoefner (Lynn), and Cheryl Patz.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Grace Rambow; his in laws, Ruth and Arne Johnson; and his great niece, Madison Johnson.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with services starting at 11:00am. Lunch will be served following the service. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories.
We will miss Gary more than words can express, but we are grateful for every moment we had with him.
