Janesville, Minnesota - Francis Joseph Schultz, age 99, of Janesville, died on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Whispering Creek in Janesville.

Francis was born on May 22, 1927, in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, Minnesota, to John and Mary (Troska) Schultz. He began his education at St. Casimir Catholic School and graduated from Wells High School. On June 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Angeline Rathai, the love of his life. Together they farmed in the Wells area before moving to Janesville in 1958. In 1965, they purchased their farm north of town, where they raised ten children and embraced a life of faith, family, and commitment to their work. They shared 73 years of marriage before Angie passed away on March 11, 2025.

Francis farmed for 60 years alongside his sons and did custom harvesting for many area farmers. He also worked for 22 years trucking peas for Birds Eye and served on the Board of Directors for the Janesville Co op. He was a Rural Mail Carrier for 23 years and a Trustee at Saint Ann Catholic Church for 14 years. A devoted member of Saint Ann Catholic Church, Francis was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for 72 years. Blessed be his memory.

Francis is survived by his children: Dennis (Brenda), David, Ann (Bob) Carda, Mark (Karen), Carol Holleran, Jim (Marcia), Julie, Connie (Gerry Hutton), and Sue (Will) McGowan; daughter in law Theresa Schultz; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Norbert (Margaret) Schultz.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Angeline; son Daniel; parents John and Mary; brothers Phillip and Clem (Janet); sisters Dorothy (Steve) Horvat and Mary Florence; granddaughter in law Lori Carda; and son in law Mike Holleran.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, with Father Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Saint Ann Catholic Church or the Janesville Area Foundation.
