Eugene "Gene" Robert Wytaske
June 15, 1937 - August 12, 2026
Eugene "Gene" Robert Wytaske, 89, of Mankato, died peacefully August 12, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcella, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
A U.S. Navy veteran and retired Mankato State University painter, Gene enjoyed auctions, gardening, hunting, winters in Texas and time with family and friends.
Survivors include children Donna Wytaske (Bill Waggener), Paul (Sandy), Louise Simonette (Chris) and Robert (Josie); sister Lana Ennis (Les); seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella; sister, Norma; son, Little Gene; and granddaughter, Holly. The family thanks St. Croix Hospice, especially Caitlyn, for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Eugene's Life will be held at a later date, and will be announced. Private family interment with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Arrangements by Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato. www.woodlandhillsfh.com

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
