Eagle Lake, MN - Diane E. Mountain, age 84 of Eagle Lake and formerly of Vernon Center, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Diane Elaine was born May 17, 1941 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Joseph and Ruth (Fisher) Heitland. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School and continued her education at Mankato State College, receiving her Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She later furthered her education at the University of MN receiving her Masters of Public Health. Diane was united in marriage in June 1966 to William "Bill" P. Mountain at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Vernon Center. They made their home on the farm and she was employed as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, as school nurse in Lake Crystal, as well as taught at South Central Tech for 25 years. She was an active member of both St. Matthews and All Saints in music ministry. She enjoyed music, singing, reading, riding bike, traveling, and most of all time with her family.
Left to remember Diane are her husband Bill; children: Larry (Jenny), Rick (Julie) and Meghan; grandchildren: Sean, Paige, Elise, Heaven, Sky, and Royal; siblings: Janell Heidecker, and Terry Heitland; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Greg, Connie and Patti.
