Cleveland, Minnesota - David C. Wendelschafer, age 72, of Cleveland, MN, passed away on April 23rd, 2025, surrounded by his family, at his home on West Lake Jefferson, from cancer.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, from 2-5 p.m., and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 28, both at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Interment will be in Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given in David's honor to Our Savior's Lutheran Cleveland or the American Cancer Society.
David was born on March 3, 1953, to David T. and Aldean M. (Meyers) Wendelschafer. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1971 and South Central College in 1974. David married Kay G. Kranz on August 24, 1974, celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2024. Dave was very active at Our Savior's Lutheran in Cleveland, serving on church council and singing in the church choir. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, sports, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Dave will be remembered for his positive attitude, strength, and willingness to help others.
Dave leaves behind his wife, Kay; son, Adam (Sue) Wendelschafer of New Richmond, WI; daughter, Alissa (Chris) Brody of Louisville, KY; two grandsons, Elijah and Samuel Brody; two sisters, Jean Seely of Cleveland and Gwen (Ken) Crabb of Woodbury; two sisters-in-law, Kristine (Jim) of Friendswood, TX, and Cara Kranz of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, John (Valerie) Kranz of Amboy; many loving nieces and nephews; and his dog Mack.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Andreas Cancer Center-Mayo Health for David's care these past 18 months. Your dedication and kindness have been greatly appreciated.
