Sauk Centre, MN - Charles (Chuck) E. Kortuem, age 82, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 11th at the Sauk Centre Hospital.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. Inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Chuck was born Jan. 3rd, 1943 in Mankato, MN to parents George and Rose Kortuem of Madison Lake, MN. Chuck was a 1960 graduate of the University of Minnesota Waseca (UMW). Chuck married Beverly A. Wandersee in 1963 at the Marysburg Catholic Church.

After graduating, Chuck served 2 years in the U.S. Army and 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserves as a tank mechanic. After his service, Chuck started his 42 year career at CHS (Honeymead) in Mankato and retired as the Refinery Manager.

Chuck's hobbies included year-round fishing on Big Sauk Lake, hunting, traveling with family, and his 1966 Ford Fairlane. He was known as 'Chainsaw Chuck' taking up chainsaw repair and sharpening after retirement. Chuck enjoyed playing the guitar for his grandchildren and with a garage band (Phil and the Blanks).

Chuck is survived by his Wife: Bev Kortuem; Son: Ed (Marnie) Kortuem; Daughter: Cindy (Steve) Romnes; Grandchildren: Colleen, Jon, Joe, Jake, Jack, Justin, Jordan, and Ty; Great-grandchildren: Karleigh, Maisie, Quinn, and Krew.

Chuck is preceded in death by Parents: George and Rose Kortuem; Siblings: Mary, Roseanne, Margaret, Elizabeth, John; Daughter: Debbie (Larry) Herke; Grandson: Nathan Kortuem; Great-granddaughter: June Herke.
