Mankato, MN - Carl "Jim" James Nusser, age 88 of Mankato, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Jim's Life will be on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato. Interment with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.

Carl was born to Luverne Possin Nusser Johnson and Ray Nusser on March 7th, 1937, in Mankato, MN. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957 then worked a few jobs before starting his 30-year career working for the City of Mankato until he retired.

Carl married Alberta Dorthy Arndt on March 21, 1959, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together they had 3 sons, 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Carl's hobbies included fishing, crossword puzzles and his favorite part-time job gambling.

Carl is survived by his wife Alberta; sons, William (Jill) of Mankato, MN, Ricky (Bridget) of Eagle Lake, MN, and Tracy of North Mankato, MN; grandchildren; Krysti Nusser of St. Peter MN, Courtney (Nusser) McDonald (Patrick), of Mankato, MN, Brittany Nusser of Mankato, MN and Jenna (Nusser) Russell (Christopher) of North Mankato, MN, David Nusser of Shoreview, MN, Craig Nusser (Alissa) of Mankato, MN, Rachel (Nusser) Harrington (Scott) of Mankato MN, Amanda Nusser, of Denver, CO, Jessica Nusser of Mankato, MN & Laura Nusser of Mapleton, MN and 20 great grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather Nels Johnson; four brothers, Cletus, Jerry, Eugene and Howard his sister Kathleen (Nusser) Sieberg and his in-laws Albert and Dorthy Arndt.
