Bradley Salzwedel (Sam) Obituary
Bradley "Sam" Salzwedel, 69, of Mankato, passed away on February 18, 2023 in Windom, Minnesota. He was born on August 31, 1953 in Windom to Elmer and Adele (Fett) Salzwedel, baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Sam attended Bingham Lake grade school, Windom High School and graduated from Mankato State College in 1975 where he spent his entire career in the campus buildings/facilities department. At work, he enjoyed his years of mentoring work-study students from other countries and especially enjoyed painting the Maverick logo on the football field every fall. He married Dawn Fast in 1979 and was blessed with a son, Luke. Sam loved the outdoors: canoeing, fishing, hunting, gardening and exploring the wonders and beauty of nature. He will be remembered for his nature stories, homemade gadgets, delicious garden produce and his painted pumpkins shared with many who knew him. He is survived by his son, Luke, brother, Larry (Debra) Salzwedel, and sister, Debra (Robert) Bonk, nephews: Matthew and Michael (Hilary) Salzwedel and Daniel (Ashley) Bonk, great niece and nephews, Naomi, Noah and Eli Salzwedel, two aunts: June Salzwedel and Avis Fett, and many cousins and friends; and special thanks to Dawn Salzwedel for her continued friendship. Bradley Steven Salzwedel was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato where a private family service will be held at a later date.
