A. Henry "'Doc" Thompson, age 86 of St. Peter passed away on January 4, 2012, at the River¹s Edge Hospital in St. Peter surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Alan Bray and Rev. Don Holmstrom officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to hospice or a charity of the donor's choice. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Ardell Henry Thompson was born on May 20, 1925 in rural Madison, MN, to Leonard Zious and Geneva Signorette (Retrum). He graduated from Madison High School and joined the US Naval Air Corps serving in WWII. After being honorably discharged, he attended St. Olaf College and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He was in family medicine for 38 years; 35 of those in St. Peter. He enjoyed many competitive sports and activities and was very accomplished at golf, skiing, hunting and many others. Grateful for having shared in his life are: his wife, Betty; sons, John and Mark (Karen); grandchildren, Alta (Luke), Ian. Nia, Melissa, Kristen and Haley (Travis); great-granddaughter, Grace; siblings, Elda (Ron)Soderquist, Joyce Doucette, Dale (Mona), Eloise (Ron) Zaniewski, Deanne, Dwain, Paul (Sandy) and Linda (Andy) Dvorak; Betty¹s siblings: Don (Mary) Nicholson, Fred Nicholson and Nancy (Chuck) Maag; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Loren and Phyllis (Verne) Stangeland; brother-in-law, Stan Doucette; and 2 nephews.
