Scott James Norman, age 31, loved and admired son, brother, and friend to many died August 21, 2017.
A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday at the mortuary. Private family interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials to addiction recovery service organizations are preferred.
Scott was born June 2, 1986, in Mankato, the son of Robert and Leatha (Papke) Norman. After graduating from Mankato West High School in 2004, he re-located to Boulder, CO, where he worked in care-giving, played many instruments in bands with friends, enjoyed the Rocky Mountain outdoors, and began cultivating his love of world travel a love that would ultimately take him to places like Ecuador, Morocco, and most of Europe.
In 2011, Scott moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he managed a gourmet dessert café, continued building his collection of music and musical instruments, and embraced the city and all it had to offer. He returned to Minnesota in late 2016, and he spent the spring and summer traveling and visiting family around the Midwest. No matter where he went, Scott always enjoyed being around his family and friends, playing and finding new music, downplaying his various skateboarding injuries, and above all making people laugh.
Scott is survived by his parents, Robert and Leatha of North Mankato; brother, Steve and his wife, Erica of Minneapolis; sister, Samantha of Madison, WI; grandmother, Beth Norman of Lake Crystal; aunts, uncles; many cousins, and extended family.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Owen and Babe Papke and John Norman.
