Mankato resident, Norman Malakowsky, 83, died Friday, May 19, 2017 at Laurel's Peak in Mankato. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Chaplain Jim Dye, officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Norman was born June 26, 1933 in Wells, Minnesota to Emil and Pauline (Martin) Malakowsky. He married Beverly Vogelsang on November 8, 1958. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he owned and operated Norm's Soft Water in Mankato. When he wasn't working, Norm enjoyed fishing, gardening, old time music, and bowling. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly; daughter, Lori (Scott) Schweer of Minnesota Lake; sons, Greg (Michelle) and Scott (Glenda) all of Mankato; grandchildren, Jason, Katelin, Kevin, Jessica, and Nathan; great grandchildren, Madilyn and Caleb; brothers, Harvey (Emily) of Wells, MN, Emil (Karen) of Albert Lea, MN, Jimmy (Mary) of Owatonna, MN; sister, Janice (Clarence) Ayers of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Walter and Esther Vogelsang.
