Louis Vermeersch, age 86, of Mankato, died Tuesday at his home. A carpenter by trade, he was a father of 8, grandfather of 15, great-grand father of 3. He is survived by his wife, Bernadine Kopischke, children: Michael (Patricia), Thomas (Cindy), Catherine Miyamoto, Mary Kay (Jim) Cole, Joseph (Katherine McDonald), Charles (Maryann), Elizabeth, and John; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Brian) Wiczer, Catherine (Chris Miller) Vermeersch, Joseph (Nicole) Vermeersch, Isaac (Will Anna Skar-Jones) Vermeersch, Ann (Melissa) Vermeersch, Daniel Miyamoto, Laura Miyamoto, Katie Cole, Timothy Cole, Emily (Tom) Knese, Matthew Vermeersch, Sean Kelly, Brendan Kelly, Erin Kelly, John Vermeersch; great-grandchildren: Amber Cole-DesRosier, Christopher Wiczer, Katie Wiczer. He is preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne Gitter, his sisters, Susan Abelman, Magdelene Hoffman, Ann Langevin, Irene Van Ryn, Loretta Devens, and his brother, John Edward. A funeral service will be held at Pathstone, 718 Mound Ave, Mankato, MN 56001, at 12:30 pm on March 17, 2017.
