Lorraine Spier, age 91, resident of Brainerd died peacefully on Friday, January 13, at her home.
She was born October 5, 1925, in Brooten, MN, to Anton and Barbara (Decker) Steinhoff. She married Al Spier on June 14, 1947, in Waite Park, MN. Lorraine worked for National Food Store and Montgomery Wards. She was an active member of St. Francis Parish and a past member of St. Francis Guild. Lorraine was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet, cross stitch, and read.
Survivors include her children, Sheila (Bob) Madsen of Sauk Rapids, Sue (Andy) Streit of St. Cloud, Jim (Lisa) Spier of North Mankato, and Judy Peterson of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Marti, Michaela, and Mark (Melissa) Madsen, Aaron (Amy) and Tyler Spier, and Drew (Kara) and Nicole Peterson; and six great grandchildren, Jaden, Aydon, Carla, Levi, Archor, and Lily.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Al, her parents, and her siblings, John Steinhoff, Susan Killeen, Matilda Essler, Veronica Essler, Alphonse Steinhoff, Irene Schmitt, Ida Majerus, Margaret Gruber, and Sylvester Steinhoff.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, January 20, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Francis Church in Brainerd.
