Lorentz "Larry"'s Story
Lorentz "Larry" Kunst, age 93 of St. Peter, died at Oaklawn Health Center in Mankato.
Memorial service is 2pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Sunrise Assembly of God in St. Peter with visitation one hour prior. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Lorentz Herman was born on December 17, 1923 in Mankato to Frederick and Anna Mary (Wittmers) Kunst. He was employed at Continental Can in Mankato prior to joining the US Army. He served in WWII and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge for Action in Combat. Larry returned home and found employment with the St. Peter Creamery before returning to Continental Can and retiring after 40 years there. He was united in marriage to Winifred Hanson on October 9, 1943 in Gainsville TX. Larry was a member of the St. Peter VFW and the international Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Larry enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking and playing the concertina. He loved fishing and could be found on a lake year round.
Left to remember Larry are his wife of 73 years, Winnie; children: Sharon (Stephen) Howe Wills, Richard (Deb) Kunst, Terri (Steve) Ward and Merri (Steve) Howe; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
