Leora Irene Graff passed away Friday April 7, 2017 at Pathstone Living in Mankato. She was 98. The funeral will be Thursday, April 13th, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church at 11:00 with interment at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.
Leora was born to Florence and Glen Meyers on February 24th, 1919 in Sheldon, Iowa. She attended Brady and Rogers Beauty School in Minneapolis before working as a beautician there. During the building of the Alcan Highway, she and a girlfriend moved to Alaska and worked in the construction company's post office for several years. Upon returning to Minneapolis, she met and married Donald Morgan Graff on May 28, 1949. They had two sons before moving to Mankato in 1958.
Leora's warm, friendly and outgoing personality was always apparent whether representing the Mankato Welcome Wagon, demonstrating foods, or serving as an Election Judge. She was a people person and it showed.
For 50 years, Leora was a member of Mankato Tops Club, where she formed many loving and loyal friendships, while even managing to lose a few pounds. She was an active member of Chapter #2 Eastern Star and Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato.
Her summers were spent with Don at their cabin on Nokay Lake near Brainerd, where she would fry pans of crappies for whoever came around.
With Don's tutoring, she learned to enjoy the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. That's where her good sense of humor really came in handy.
Leora loved her husband, sons, grandsons, and great granddaughter and told them so frequently. She is preceded in death by Donald Graff. She is survived by sons Jack E. Graff of Grand Rapids, MN, and Gary C. Graff (Theresa) of North Mankato, grandsons Mason Graff of North Mankato and Wesley Graff (Michelle) and great granddaughter Amara Jolee of Groton, South Dakota.
She is missed.
