Judy passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Judy was born on July 28, 1940 in Mankato Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Lillian (Lien) Wood. She grew up and attended school in Delavan Minnesota. After graduating from Mankato State, Judy worked as an elementary school teacher for several years in the Minneapolis area. Judy married Bill Lair on June 6, 1970. For many years, Judy's main focus was on raising her two children. When Judy's children were older, she worked for a number of stores including Jewel, Alton Drugs, and Kohls. Judy enjoyed music from the 1950s, movies (especially The Buddy Holly Story), crossword puzzles, adult coloring books, and her pet cats. She also loved spending time with and hearing about her grandchildren. Among her many talents was her ability to plan events and activities for her children, nieces, and nephews at family get-togethers. Judy had a wonderful sense of humor, which included playing all kinds of jokes on unsuspecting relatives.
Judy is survived by her husband, Bill Lair; two children, Stephanie (Matt) Kaleba and Craig (Alecia) Lair; sisters Carol (Paul) Juergens and Pauline Way; brother Howard Wood; grandchildren Ellie Kaleba, Audrey Kaleba, and CJ Lair; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Pam Lair, David and Bonnie Lair, Jerry and Rosemary Harris, Paul and Lynnette Lair, Bob and Linda Lair, Lynn and Donna Lair, and Joe and Diane Lair; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brother Henry.
A special thank you Judy's niece Jenny (Lair) Rommes for taking such wonderful care of Judy. Memorials can be made in Judy's name to Mayo Clinic HS Franciscan Healthcare Hospice, https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/mchsfranciscanhealthcare. Online condolences are welcome at: www.bayviewfuneral.com.
