Janice's Story

Berg, Janice L. (Kreyer) age 79, of Arden Hills, MN passed away on March 19, 2017. Jan and her husband Arne lived most of their married years in North Mankato, moving to Emily and Crosslake following Arne's retirement in 1995. Jan was born on October 8, 1937 in St. Paul and enjoyed growing up on Ivy Avenue. Jan and Arne married in St. Paul on December 13, 1957. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to Arne's death in January 2008. Jan enjoyed church choir, college hockey, Christmas in Christ Chapel, birds (especially loons and cardinals), gardening and everything about nature. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting independently and with friends. She shared her crafts with everyone. Jan's greatest love was any time she could spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. And the time she and Arne spent living on Ruth Lake in Jan's dream home. She is survived by daughters Joy Herman and Karen Piper (Jeff) and son Dale Berg (Jane). She is also survived by her 8 wonderful grandchildren; Tieg and Tory Herman, Kyle and Kjersten Piper, Claire and Anna Berg and Julia and Justin Berg. She also had three beautiful great grandchildren, Willa, Annie and Teddy Herman. Also brother Gary Kreyer (Judy), sister Linda Johnson (Tom) and many nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by Arne, her parents, her son, Keith and an infant son, Bradley Jay. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Unity Hospital in Fridley for their compassionate care over the past month. Services for Jan will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis on Friday, March 24, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with services starting at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Pig & Fiddle, 3812 W 50th St, Minneapolis, MN. A private burial will be held later at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to www.bethlehemmusicseries.org.
