Frank's Story

Mankato resident, Frank Louis Goettl, 78, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Laurels Peak in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-7p.m. on Tuesday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to V.I.N.E. or Alzheimer's Association.

Frank was born June 10, 1939 in Mankato to Frank and Caroline (Baumgartner) Goettl. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1957. On September 4, 1965 he married Kathleen Fitzpatrick at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. He was a coil winder at Kato Engineering for 38 years. Frank enjoyed watching Twins baseball, going to V.I.N.E. to play pool and later on for Respite Care, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of IBEW Local 1999.

Frank is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" of Mankato; sons, Troy (Kris) Goettl of St. Clair, MN, and Steven Goettl of Mankato; daughter, Tracy (Ken) Tester of Mankato; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Lamm, Brandon (Lauren) Tester, Jacob, Jayden, Kylie and Jackson Tester, Taylor Goettl (fiancé Devin Winter), and Jamie Goettl; brother, Lawrence (Bette) Goettl of Owatonna, MN; sisters, Deloris Reuter of Mankato, Barbara Slimmer of Norwood Young America, MN, and Shirley Pestka of Mankato; sister-in-law, Jeanette Goettl of Eagle Lake, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom (Janie) Fitzpatrick of Duluth, Bill (Diana) Fitzpatrick of Lake Crystal, Danette (Keith) Rollings of Mankato; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Brittany Tester; brothers Harold and Cyril (Lorraine); brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Pestka, John Slimmer and Karolyn Fitzpatrick; parents-in-law, Daniel and Dolores Fitzpatrick.
