Donald Richard Ruedy, age 90 of Mankato, died July 31, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mankato Mortuary. Burial in Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation one hour before the service on Friday.
Donald Richard Ruedy was born June 28, 1927 to Howard and Bernice (Curley) Ruedy in Waseca. He attended Waseca Central School. In 1944 he joined the US Navy Seabees. After serving in the South Pacific Theater of operations in Okinawa, he was honorably discharged in 1946. Don was united in marriage to Elaine Worke on November 18, 1949. They were parents to one son Duane born in 1951. After living in Waseca for eight years, they made Mankato their permanent home.
Don enjoyed a 41 year career at CNW railroad before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Mankato VFW, American Legion and Union 0312.
Don is survived by his sisters, Jean Huntington of Sandstone, MN, Shirley Anderson of Waseca, MN, and Lois (Archie) Johnson of Waseca, MN; daughter-in-law, Maggie Ruedy of St. Clair, MN; sister-in-law, Mavis (Jim) McKinnon of Northfield, MN, granddaughter, Mary Wandersee of Mankato, MN; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Jackson; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son.
