Darwin Yungerberg, 87, North Mankato, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Oak Terrace in North Mankato. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Thursday March 9 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Darwin was born July 26, 1929 to Herman and Grace (Harmer) Yungerberg in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1947. Darwin was united in marriage to Phyllis Holzapfel on September 14, 1950 in North Mankato. He worked for the CNW Railroad for 44 years as a car inspector. In his free time Darwin enjoyed camping, fishing, walking, traveling and spending time with his special friend Vera. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by sons, Keith (Elaine) of Inver Grove Heights, Kevin (Loni) of Pine Island, and Kirk (Sandi) of North Mankato; daughter Karen Schulz of North Mankato; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Sondra (Ronald) Szallar of North Mankato.
Darwin is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; brother, Farrel; and parents
