Charles Henry Diener, age 76, longtime Mankato resident passed away Monday February 27th, 2017 at Mesilla Valley Hospice Center in Las Cruces New Mexico.
A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Pastor Vance Becker officiating. The time and date have yet to be determined. A notice of the time and date will follow soon.
Charles Henry Diener was born on September 17th, 1940 in La mars, Iowa to Carl and Hilda Diener. Charlie grew up on the family farm near Slayton, MN where he attended Slayton High School. After he graduated in 1959 Charlie joined the Navy and was stationed in Japan on the Flag Ship of the 7th Fleet. He spent two years on the USS Saint Paul and one year on the USS Los Angeles where he saw many different countries in the far east. After completing his service Charlie was united in marriage to Joan Wieser on August 31st, 1963. Charlie spent the next 37 years working for the State of Minnesota as a maintenance worker and a heavy equipment operator. After Charlie retired from the state he spent his time shingling and siding homes until he was 60. In his retirement Charlie enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Charlie is survived by a son Steve( Jeni) Diener; Grandchildren Jeff(Erica) Michel, Dakota Diener, Quinn Diener, Madylan Diener; Great grandchildren Layla Michel, Tenley Michel, Dillon Diener.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hilda Diener; Wife, Joan; Grandson, Dylan
