Beverly Guentzel, 77, Cleveland, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Prayer services will be held at 3pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 1pm and go until the start of the service. Spring interment will be held at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Bev was born June 12, 1939 in Custer Township, Lyon County, Minnesota to Louis and Nellie (Irwin) Peters. She graduated from Janesville High School and the University of Minnesota Nursing School. She was married to George Guentzel, they later divorced. Bev worked Mankato House, Hillcrest, and Le Sueur Nursing Homes and security at the hospital and Johnson Hall in St. Peter. Bev loved living at the lake, where she had many friends. She enjoyed working at the Neighborhood and St. Peter Thrift stores and loved to do volunteer work, she was Blue Earth County Volunteer of the Year. She loved all sports, especially Gophers, Twins, and anything that her grandkids were in. Bev also loved gardening and listening to KTOE on the radio.
Bev is survived by her sons, Richard (Tammy) Guentzel of Cleveland, Matthew (May-Shel) Guentzel of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Michael (Wendy) Guentzel of East Peoria, IL; daughter, Kristin (Dan) Carver of New Brighton; grandchildren, Adam & Nick Carver, Aaron & Rachel Guentzel and Katie Ekenstedt; brother, Larry (Dorothy) Peters of White Bear Lake; sisters, Marcella (Jim) Timmerman of Mankato and Nancy Braam of Mankato; and very special family friend, Shirley Eggert.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Jo Guentzel; parents, Louie & Nellie Peters; and brother, Melvin Peters.
