Bernadine's Story

Bernadine "Bonnie" Rosella Yokiel, (Well known as Grandma Bern) age 88, died peacefully Friday, January 20, 2017 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Fr. John Kunz, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services at church.
Bernadine was born April 26, 1928 to Frank and Rosella Kline in Kilkenny. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Yokiel July 22, 1952. Bernadine was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, cooking, baking cookies and pies. Bernadine was the mother of 8 children; Phillip (fiancé Lisa) Yokiel of Wisconsin, Dennis (Judy) Yokiel of Madison Lake, Lou (Bill) Homer, Judy (Doug) Landwer, Kathy (Steve) Moncelle, Dale (Anita) Yokiel, Tami (Tim) Tupy and Gary "Dino" Yokiel all of Mankato; 14 grandchildren, Michelle (Jason Goble), Robert and Nicholas Yokiel, Robert (Malin) Homer, Daniel (Lucas) Homer, Jared (Laura) Landwer, Whitney (Peter McDonald) Landwer, Stephanie (Brent) Pattison, Aaron Moncelle, Hannah, Bridget and Tom Yokiel, Ben and Rachel Yokiel; 5 great-grandchildren, Nora, Morgan and Nina Homer, Audrey McDonald and Hadley Pattison; and many grand dogs.
She is survived by her brothers; Bruce (Jackie) Kline, Bert (Sandy) Kline; sisters, Bernadette Mathies and Bernita (Milo) Koktavy; sister-in-law's, Georgia Kline, Mary Jane Ledwein and Juliet (Charlie) Shamp; many nieces and nephews.
Bernadine is preceded in death by her husband Robert Yokiel; parents, Frank and Rosella Kline; 4 brothers, Bernhardt, Bernard, Benjamin and Bernarr; sisters, Bernice Baker and by daughter-in-law JoAnn Yokiel.
