Awanda B. Hed, age 86 of Mankato, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11 A.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Rev. Del Begalka officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato handling arrangements.
Awanda was born Sept. 19, 1930 to Emma Bogue and Erwin Cammack in Cherokee County Iowa. Awanda graduated from Mankato High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Orville H. Hed on Dec. 27, 1949 in Mason City Iowa. They had 3 children. She worked as a seamstress for Bretts Department Store doing alterations in clothing and bridal for close to 25 years. After retiring from Bretts she continued doing alterations out of her home for many years. She also worked for Pinkerton Security for 8 years weighing trucks at Harvest States. She was a member of the American Legions Post #11 and #518, member of the VFW Post #950 and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge 1414 in Mankato. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bingo, gambling and spending time with family and friends.
Awanda is survived by her children, Sandy (Bob) Mosser of St. James, MN, Orv Hed Jr. of Superior, AZ and Pam (Steve) Fry of Elysian, MN; granddaughter, Heather (Chuck) Salmi of Aurora , MN, Brian Fry (Jessica Markovich) of Portland, OR and Dan Fry of Coffeyville, KS; great grandchildren, Jordan, Isac, Cole and Shiloh, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Cammack, Emma and Magnus Helgeson; husband, Orville Hed; brother, Derwin Cammack ; and nephew Carey Cammack; by many brothers and sisters in-law.
