Wesley Schlegel, age 63 of LeSueur, Minnesota died on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at Ridgeview LeSueur Long Term Carer & Rehab Center.. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur on Thursday and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Wes was born on February 15, 1954 in St. Peter to Erwin and R. Ruth (Day) Schlegel. He graduated from LeSueur High School and worked for a time with Ray Schwarz at Schwarz-Schlegel Custom Interiors doing finishing and cabinet work. Wes married Patricia Sickler on February 23, 1985 at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and served for over 40 years as a Trustee. He was self-employed Cabinet Maker and carpenter for many years. Wes enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and playing softball. As a youth he was very active in 4-H and continued his appreciation for 4-H by making kits for small projects that the youth at the county fair could assemble under his direction. After the death of his father, he also began farming the family 2013 designated Century Farm in Ottawa Township.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia;Brothers, Wayne Schlegel of Northfield Uncle, David Day of Morris; Sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Don) Bieringer of North Branch as well as numerous cousins. Wes was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Kathie Schlegel.
