Vincent Style, age 83, of St. James died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Truman Senior Living Center in Truman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church in St. James with Father Andy Beerman as celebrant. Burial with military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be Saturday at the church beginning at 9am, a Christian Mothers Rosary will be recited at 9am. Vincent Joseph Style was born April 19, 1934 in Fairmont, MN to parents Glenmore and Mary Style. Vince attended Catholic School in Fairmont and went to public school, where he graduated in 1953. He attended Mankato Business College for two years. He then, enlisted in the Army for 2 years. He married Jane Alice Sizer on August 18, 1956. They had four children together, Matthew, Steven, Nona, and Chad.
Vince owned and operated the Band Box in St. James from 1958-1980. Vince also purchased Kelsey's On & Off Liquor in Comfrey and VJ'S Bar in Truman, where he operated both for 6 years. During this time Vince sponsored several softball teams.
Vince was on the City Council of St. James for 10 years, Fire Department of St. James for 20 years, and Watonwan County Commissioner for 6 years. Vince was an active member of St. James Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his later years, Vince spent time volunteering at St. James Clinic and Restoration of the St. James Opera House.
Vince had a passion for buying and selling cars. He used that passion as a car salesman for Marquardt Motors, Nelson Ford, and HWY 60 Motors. Vince couldn't handle being in retirement; so, he continued to work out of St. James as a driver for the Union Pacific Railroad, then, a maintenance man at the US Post Office- St. James.
In his free time, Vince and Jane spent a lot of time traveling together, having visited every U.S State, but two. Vince also loved spending time with his family and Grandchildren. Vince was a great mentor and friend for all who were blessed to know him. Vince and Jane spent 52 years of marriage together until Jane passed away in November of 2008. Vince married Marion Edgar in October of 2014, they too continued to road trip together.
Vince is survived by his wife, Marion. His son, Steve and Michelle Style of Brule, Wisconsin. Steve's children Alyssa Style, Tucker Style, and Great Grandchild Maverick (Alyssa). His daughter, Nona (Style) and Keith Runge of St. James, MN. Their children; Matt & Jessica Runge, Jaime (Runge) & Chris Redmond, Adam & Katie Runge, Jena (Runge) & Burke Watson, Julia (Runge) & Caleb Hoffman, and William Runge. Great Grandchildren; Sofia & Vincent Runge (Adam & Katie), Adrian & Presley Watson (Burke & Jena), Liam & Baby Redmond (Jaime & Chris), and Owen Runge (Matt & Jessica). His son, Chad and Penny Style of Rapid City, South Dakota. Chad's son Zachary Style.
Vince's sisters, Sister Margaret Claire Style, Elizabeth Sullivan, Mary Finney, and Cathy Olson. Sister- in- laws; Mary Ann Style and Delores Style. Marion's children; Lorrie Odegard, Scott Baumgardt, and Susan Warnemende.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Style, their 3 year old son, Matthew Style. His parent's, Glenmore and Mary Style. Vince's brothers; Rodney, Charles, William, James, Robert, Jerome, and Gerald Style. Sister-in-laws; Kathleen, Marguerite, and Margaret Style and brother-in-law, Robert Olson. Brother/Sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Sizer, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
