Ruth Victoria Lorentz, age 87, of Mankato died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Laurels Edge in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 5 7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ruth was born August 5, 1929, to George and Elvina (Chalin) Sandmeyer in St. James, Minnesota. She graduated from St. James High School. On April 12, 1956, Ruth was united in marriage to Wendell J. Lorentz in St. James, MN. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Wendell Lorentz & Sons Construction. She was a founding member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and an active member of the ladies guild. Her passion in life was gardening and she also enjoyed cooking and baking, she was an excellent seamstress, she enjoyed going to the lake fishing with Wendell, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Robert Bob (Sherry) Lorentz of Lake Crystal and their children, Nicholas and Andrew, and Randy Lorentz of Mankato and his children, Daniel and Sara (Matt) Lee; Dodies children: Crystal, Brandon (Kathy), and Adam; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Bob Sandmeyer of St. James, Clayton (Darlene) Sandmeyer of Rapidan; three sisters-in-law, LaVonne Johnson of Lafayette, Eleanor (Don) Solem of Florida, and Elaine Spoor of Mankato; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell in 2010; daughter, Rosalie Dodie in 2006; brothers and a sister.
