Rick's Story

Text size

This obituary was written by Ricks wife Cindy.
I, Rick Pautzke, Mankato, MN age 56 passed sometime Saturday night, July 1, 2017 off my second heart attack at age 56. I died with a handgun and a bible beside my bed, which spoke to my values.
I graduated from Welcome Memorial High School in 1979. During my senior year, I fell in love with Cindy Kopischke in art class and we celebrated 30 years this year. We complemented each others strengths and loved each other and were the best of friends. I lived loving the freedoms this Country gave me, and died with a strong faith in God
I went on to Mankato Vocational College with a degree in Refrigeration, HVAC, and Appliance Repair. I went on to work for Riverbend Appliance and Mankato Bussiness Products.
Thereafter I worked for Mayo Heath Clinic for 20 plus years.
On a personal note, I learned two life lessons from my Father and Mother each
From my Father I learned my love for hunting and fishing and the outdoors. These activities consumed me. My Mother whispered to my wifes Mother on our wedding day, Does she know what shes getting herself into? His love for hunting and fishing, were important. And I loved my wife more than anything in the world.
But, I got to go on four fishing trips this year. Once, with my brother and best friend Mike and his son Lucas. In addition, in my picture you will see, a friend Steve Brown invited me on an all mans fishing trip. Steve did the math at the end of the week and texted me we had 2 walleyes to get our limit. His son and we were in the boat in minutes. His son caught the first fish and I caught the last, and largest of the trip.
My Mother taught me the love of laughter and the importance of a good work ethic. Cindy and my sense of humor.
She also had my brothers and sisters walking beans as soon as we could walk. Although this sounds trivial, it wasnt. I was able to take care of my family and leave Cindy a comfortable retirement.
Ive chosen to be cremated and have a small gathering with my family.
If you want to send money in remembrance of me, please send them to Minnesota Pheasant Inc. Po box 202 Good Thunder. MN. 56037 or the donation of your choice.
I am survived by my wife, and my hunting dog Tora. In addition, I am survived by my Mother and Stepfather, Ardis and Dennis Griebel, Siblings, Terry (Ann) Pautzke, Renee (Randy) Grupe, Kaye (Ray) Johnson, and Mike (Dino) Pautzke. Nieces, nephews and Great niand nephews. Other family, Dave, Mark, Joan and Denise. Preceded in death by Father, Alfred Pautzke and Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
