Raymond E. Owens, age 85 of Lake Crystal, died unexpectedly, Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Northview. Interment will be at Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.
Raymond was born July 16, 1932, on the family farm in Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Joseph H. and Myrtle (Davis) Owens. He attended 4 Corners Country School District #7 and graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1950. Raymond began farming and milking Holstein cattle with his dad and his brothers, the "Owens Bros." on the family farm. He was still actively involved in farming until the very last day. He was very proud to have a hand in building all the present buildings on the farm. Raymond enjoyed and treasured his family and friends, traveling, especially to California and Florida to visit family, working hard, and most of all his pride and joy in life, his farm.
Raymond is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Owens of Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, Oryle Davis of Medford; 5 nephews and 2 nieces; Deborah Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Bruce (Char) Davis of Montgomery, Steve (Amanda) Davis of Glencoe, Vern (Karen) Owens of Medford, Larry Owens of Amboy, Donna (Rod) Church of Isanti, and Joseph Owens of Lake Crystal; several first cousins and in-laws, including Lloyd (Elsie) Davis of Judson, Doreen Peterson of New Ulm, Carol Davis of Cambria, Roger Allen (Carol) Jones of Lake Crystal, Marion Saylor of Phoenix, AZ, Violette Nelson of Menlo Park, CA; and many extended family.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Joe in 1980, Myrtle in 1994; siblings, Edna Owens, Robert Owens, Donald Owens, Lee Owens, Glen Owens, and JoAnn Davis.
