Peter's Story

Peter A. Anderson, 52 of Arlington passed away, October 26, 2017 at his home near Arlington. At his passing, Peter was held in the loving embrace of his parents Iler Paul and Loleen.
Peter Andrew Anderson was born in Saint Paul, MN on April 13, 1965 to Iler Paul and Loleen Anderson. He grew up in Good Thunder, MN, Viroqua, WI, Lake Mills, WI, and Franklin, MN. Peter attended high school in Franklin where he was a standout football and basketball player. He was salutatorian of the 1983 graduating class of Franklin High School.
After graduating from Mankato Technical College in 1985 with an associate degree in electrical engineering, Peter went to work for Kato Engineering as a field engineer. That was the start of a very successful 31 year career as an electrical engineer in the field and later in management. Peter's work took him all over the globe. From Turkey to China to Malaysia to Australia and many, many countries in between.
In the course of his travels Peter met Airin Ariffin in Kuala Lumpur. Peter and Airin were married by Peter's dad in the home of Peter's sister and brother in law Kaia and Jeremiah in Rapid City, SD on October 30, 2003. On January 27th, 2010 their marriage was blessed with a daughter - Juveeta Valentine Anderson.
Peter was a doting father to Val. In May of this year Peter was able to travel to Malaysia to reunite with Val. He treasured the time he was able to spend with Val on that trip.
Despite all of his global travel, Peter's heart never strayed from his midwestern roots. A lifelong sportsman, Peter learned to hunt and fish at an early age. As a youngster, Peter and his brother Nathan spent hours with their dad fishing and hunting on the lakes and in the woods of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Few things brought a bigger smile to Peter's face than a muskie netted after a tough fight or a successful shot on the wing or at distance. His deep freezer and the walls of his home were filled with the bounty of his skill with rod & reel, shotgun, and rifle.
Peter was a generous friend - willing to share his time and talents with his buddies and neighbors when needed. He enjoyed a good story well told. But, Peter valued actions over words - he'd rather do it than talk about it.
Peter is survived by his daughter Val of Teluk Intan, Malaysia; his parents Iler Paul and Loleen Anderson of Rapid City, SD; his brother Nathan Anderson of Culver City, CA; his sister Kaia (Jeremiah) Murphy, of Rapid City, SD; his nephew Hunter (Hannah) Murphy, of Salt Lake, UT; and his niece and nephew Chloe and Dylan Murphy of Rapid City, SD.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 2nd at 2:00 at Lake Whitewood Lutheran Church, 21146 449th Ave, Arlington, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, Peter's family requests memorials be made to Lake Whitewood Lutheran Church.
