Merton Rettke, 96, of Odin, died on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James. Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James on Thursday from 5-8pm and one hour before services at the church Friday. Surviving Merton are son Gary (Susan) Rettke of Blaine, MN; daughter-in-law Patricia Rettke of Boyceville, WI; daughter Diane (James) Stenson of St. Peter, MN; son Dale Rettke of St. James, MN; and daughter Dawn (Mike) Johnson of Odin, MN. Surviving grandchildren are Jason (Samantha) Rettke of Pueblo, CO; Chad (Amanda) Rettke of Bethel, MN; Ryan (Elizabeth) Rettke of Redlands, CA; Leah (Dan) Malmgren of Marine-on-the-St. Croix, MN; Naomi Rettke (Dave Bachman) of St. Paul, MN; Philip Rettke of Blaine, MN; Anne Haugen of Mankato, MN; Joe Haugen of Las Vegas, NV; and Hayley Johnson of Odin, MN. Surviving great-grandchildren are Micah Rettke, Pueblo, CO; Micala Burns, Minneapolis, MN; Colton, Parker, Audrey, Edward Merton, and Olivia Rettke of Bethel, MN; Jakob Rettke of Minneapolis, MN; Henry and Beatrice Rettke of Redlands, CA; Hannah, Luke, and Rachel Malmgren of Marine-on the St. Croix, MN; Diego and Josie Bachman of St. Paul, MN; and Maren Haugen of Mankato, MN. Also surviving Merton are his sister Pearl (Harvey) Haglund Stoesz of Mountain Lake, MN; sister-in-law Wilma Rettke of Odin, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
