Matthew Thomas Caven of Mankato, died on November 7, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato, Minnesota.
Matt was born on July 17, 1957, to Eleanor and William Caven of rural Amboy and was one of nine children.
Matt was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and worked in cryptography in Texas, Louisiana, Guam, and as a member of the Reserves, was called to serve in Panama during the 1st Gulf War. He was a member of the American Legion and had been a member of the Skyline Volunteer Fire Department. Most recently, Matt was employed at MRCI and Walmart Distribution Center in Mankato.
Matt's survivors include children Ryan and Rachel (Danny) and granddaughters Chloe and Molly; mother Eleanor and siblings Mary, Michael (Barb), Daniel, Joseph (Bea), twin sister Margaret, Louise (Jeff) Burger, John (Mary) and Julie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father William and sister-in-law Patti (Mike) Caven.
Private services with military honors provided by the American Legion, Robert S. Stratton Post 616, Good Thunder, at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Vernon Center.
