Mary Stoffel, age 85 of St. Peter, died on Sunday, December 31, 2017 surrounded by family at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Catholic Church of St. Peter with burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation is 4:00-7:00pm Thursday, January 4th at the church with a prayer service at 6:30. Memories can be shared at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.
Mary M. Fay was born November 11, 1932 in St. Peter to Helen (Staples) and P. Victor Fay. Mary attended John Ireland School in St. Peter and graduated from Good Counsel Academy with honors in music in 1950. She wanted her appreciation to the school Sisters of Notre Dame known for 12 years of music lessons and her formal education.
On October 19, 1955 she was joined in marriage to Warner John Stoffel in St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Peter. They farmed in Kasota Township, Le Sueur County and had nine children. Mary was organist at St. Peters Catholic Church and received the Bishops Medal of service award in 1988. Later she enjoyed her time as an organist at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Nicollet.
Mary was employed for over 15 years in the Activity Department of the St. Peter Community Health Care Center and was able to use her music therapy ministry. After retiring in 1995 she continued this ministry; taking her synthesizer to many nursing homes and assisted living homes in the surrounding area. She leaves behind many great memories for her family and friends to cherish. She was a very loving and thoughtful person who will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Left to remember Mary are her husband Warner; four sons: Robert (Deb) of Belle Plaine, Andrew (Denise) of Madison Lake, Michael, and Timothy (Alison) both of St. Peter; four daughters: Patricia Rosenow, Barbara (Bruce) Johnson both of St. Peter, Marguerite (Steve) Mines of Minnesota City and Teresa (Robert) Scott of Le Sueur; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Ray Fay; and sister, Phyllis Smith both of St. Peter.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles in 1981 two grandsons: Casey and Chuck.
