Kurt Roger Krenz, age 46 of North Mankato and formerly of Virginia died Monday, November 6, 2017 after a 19 month bout with brain cancer. He was born May 14, 1971 in Virginia, the son of Dr. Roger and Connie (Nelson) Johnson. Kurt attended Virginia Public Schools, was active on the Varsity Swim team, and graduated in 1989. He entered the United States Coast Guard following graduation and served in New York, Kodiak Island, Alaska and Duluth. Kurt attended Lake Superior College and Northwest Technical College and received a degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology in 1999. He was employed by the Virginia Regional Medical Center and Essentia Health Virginia as a Bio Med Tech Level 2. Kurt enjoyed fishing and other activities at the family's cabin, watching sports, cooking and riding his motorcycle.
Kurt is survived by his father: Duane Krenz of St. Peter; brother: Eric (Jenn) Krenz of Gilbert; sisters: Kim (Jason) Friedrich of Jordan and Kris (Aaron) Anderson of Mankato; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Connie Krenz and his father: Dr. Roger Johnson.
Kurt's Family would like to thank the medical staff at Essentia Health Virginia/Duluth, Mayo Clinic Staff / Hospice of Mankato, and the staff at Monarch Meadows in North Mankato for their loving care.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the North Star Church, 302 2nd Ave. North, in Virginia. Terry Sonnentag will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one our prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
