Kenneth H. (Ken) OBrien, age 93, North Mankato, died January 14 at his home. Ken was born February 12, 1924 in Mankato to George and Frances (Anderson) OBrien. He grew up and was educated there and graduated from Mankato High School in 1942. He served 3 years in the Army Air Corps during World War II, then graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in 1948. He was a pharmaceutical representative for Lederle Laboratories for thirty years, covering a sizeable territory in southern Minnesota. He married Beryl Osmundson in 1944 and they made their home in Mankato, where they raised six children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert, and sister Georgia. He is survived by his wife, a brother Richard (Deanna), Bloomington, MN; six children: Michael (Suzi), Schenectady, NY; Craig, Basalt, CO; Nancy Smemo, Moorhead, MN; Kevin (Sandra), Minneapolis, MN; Erin, Denver, CO; Molly (Terry) Riley, Oakdale, MN; twelve grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A family memorial service was held on January 20th. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice, 1025 Marsh Street, Mankato, MN 56001
