Kenneth "Kenny" Braun, age 86 of LeSueur died on Monday, December 25, 2017 at his Sharon Township home. He was born on October 20, 1931 in Tyrone Township, LeSueur County to William and Ruth (Thelemann) Braun. Kenney graduated from LeSueur High School and joined the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he trained to be a tool and die craftsman and began a nearly 46 year career with the LeSueur Foundry. He married Cynthia Eikenberry on September 10, 1955 in LeSueur. They lived near Rush River for a time, then in LeSueur and built his home in 1973 in his woods east of LeSueur. Kenny enjoyed his time in the woods making maple syrup as well as teaching the youth of LeSueur about the process. He was a gunsmith, craftsman in metal and wood, enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent at his cabin near Orr, Minnesota as well as his garden. Kenny was a founding member of the Pioneer Power Association near LeSueur.
He is survived by wife, Cynthia; children, Keith of Lake Crystal, Lee (Dona) of Elko-New Market, Rebecca of Eagan and Gary (Melissa) of Thief River Falls; 6 grandchildren, Matt & Mike Braun, Melisssa Corkins & Derek Braun and Grace & Colton Braun; 3 step-grandchildren, Lindsey Coon, Skye and Summer Keller as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kenneth Corkins and a brother, Glendon (Lois) Braun of LeCenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Elden Braun and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur. Interment, with military honors, will be held in the Dresselville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
