Kathryn "Katy"'s Story
Kathryn "Katy" Jakobe, age 35, of Mankato, died accidentally Sunday, January 21, 2018 at her home in Mankato with Lola by her side.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be 11am, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Memorials are preferred to School Sisters of Notre Dame Health Care Unit or to Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS) in Katy's memory. Katy was born April 19, 1982 in Mankato to Greg and Patty (Nachbar) Jakobe. She graduated from Loyola High School in 2000. During her freshman year at Loyola, she was on the all-conference cross country team. She later played soccer and was named to the all-city soccer team the next three years. Katy earned degrees in Psychology and Nursing from Minnesota State University, Mankato and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society in 2008. While in the nursing program, she worked as a nursing assistant at SSND Health Center and then a short while as an RN. She also worked as a psychiatric nurse at Horizon Homes in Mankato.

Katy is survived by her parents, Patty and Greg Jakobe of Mankato; sister, Carissa Jakobe of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Olivia Jakobe of Phoenix, AZ; constant companion, Lola, her German Shorthair Pointer; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
